Korean News is a television channel. It produces audience oriented, high-quality public services. The TV broadcasts are mainly in Korean but subtitles in English, Malay and Chinese are also provided. The Korean mass media are comprised of a variety of outlets such as radio, television, cinema and newspapers.

Who created Korean writing?

Modern 배우 김시은 journalism began with the opening of Korea in the late 19th century. It took on a reformist and nationalistic flavor from the beginning, but faced efforts at political control or outright censorship throughout most of the 20th century.

The press has had a great deal of freedom since the repressive Basic Press Law was repealed in 1987. During this time, Seoul papers expanded their coverage and reintroduced the practice of stationing reporters in provincial cities. Meanwhile, new weekly and monthly periodicals bypassed the higher profits of general-circulation dailies to provide careful analyses of political, economic and national security affairs for smaller specialized audiences.

Despite this freedom, the government is still known to restrict media criticism of the military and other sensitive issues. For example, Syngman Rhee’s military government used its Press Ethics Commission Law and emergency decrees to close moderate newspapers and arrest journalists. Park Chung-hee’s Supreme Council for National Reconstruction continued these efforts and closed many leftist newspapers, even in metropolitan areas.

The North Korean regime is under heavy international pressure to end its nuclear weapons program. But Kim Jong Un is still defying sanctions to develop his country’s nuclear capabilities and has threatened “merciless revenge” on South Korea and its allies.
